In its negative form, the Emperor asks you to look at power dynamics in your life. He can represent an out-of-balance need to control your environment, including other people.  This card can also represent a controlling partner, boss or parent. Because western society is so imbalanced and biased toward a scientific, competitive, materialistic and empirical world view, this card can easily become overly supported and hold negative energy.  It will be particularily sensitive to the influence of other cards around it.
