The Fool lives in the moment, acts on impulse and moves into the future without a guaranteed outcome. There is a spring in his step as he starts out on a new journey. This energy is fabulous for making radical change in your life. It helps you break out of stagnant situations and propel you into a new reality. We often manifest this energy after a long, arduous situation ends. Sometimes we call this powerful energy in to help us escape an untenable situation.
The Fool hates the daily grind. Under the Fool’s influence mundane reality is a bore and adventure and excitement call. The lure of the road and people and places unknown stir something deep in our soul. The need for freedom and a belief in the universe overpower other needs. Usually these time periods are fun and lighthearted for us, but others may have a hard time understanding our decisions. Their reactions to our seemingly radical actions have little effect on us and so we are perceived as self-centered or being ‘foolish’.
The Fool has his place in the timeline of our lives, but his reality is not meant to be permanent. Some people get caught in his vortex for decades! This is the person who never wants to grow up. He is the Peter Pan of the adult world, avoiding commitment or responsibility, often times at the expense of others.
The Fool is the magical number 0. It is the first and last card in the major arcane. The first step on any new journey is necessarily and simultaneously the last step of the old. It is where the beginning and the end meet, the endless cycles within the cycle of life. Anything is possible from this place of possibility.
